Investment Project Management course

The program is designed for heads of project management offices and specialists who manage investment projects of various sizes across industries. The course teaches how to make well-founded decisions on the resourcing and organization of projects, link innovation and investment activities, and plan the company’s project portfolio so that it supports sustainable growth.

It is important to distinguish between investment and an investment project. Investment is money and other property put into a business to generate income, profit or another useful effect. An investment project is the instrument through which such investment is made. Together with operating activities, investment activities deliver the company’s strategy, and investment management is closely linked to strategic, financial and innovation management.

The goal of the course is to prepare specialists who can manage investment projects of any size, secure resources for them, integrate the innovation and investment processes, and plan the company’s project portfolio comprehensively.

Topic 1. The objective of an investment project

The project objective, the means of achieving it and the expected results. Decision-making methods. The iterative nature of project management.

Topic 2. The concept of an investment project

An investment project as a project that requires investment to implement. How the concepts of “investment” and “investment project” relate.

Topic 3. Classification of investment projects

• by area of implementation;
• by composition and structure;
• by scale;
• by duration;
• by the nature of the effect achieved;
• by degree of mutual influence;
• by degree of risk;
• by the nature of the cash flow.

Topic 4. Project participants and infrastructure

The roles and responsibilities of the investor, client and contractor. Investment infrastructure and the users of project results.

Topic 5. Investment project risk management

Risk management as a distinct function in project management: identifying, assessing and mitigating risks.

Topic 6. Project management functions and principles

Management functions: analysis, planning, organization and control. Key principles:

• the life cycle principle;
• the single organizational structure principle;
• the success principle.

Format and certificate
